ALBA Berlin is the 2026 German champion. With an outstanding comeback, the team led by coach Pedro Calles secured the championship. The Berliners were significantly behind in the decisive game but managed to win the title.
What happened?
The Berliners started well and set a good offensive rhythm. Jonas Mattisseck scored a three-pointer to make it 10:7 – the first Alba lead in this game.
The turning point
But the rhythm was still missing in the Berliners' game. After a timeout, Alba lost the ball directly, and shortly after, Norris Agbakoko fouled Andreas Obst on a three-point attempt. The national player scored all his attempts, and the Munich lead was now double-digit for the first time.
The fight for the title
The Berliners came back with a lot of energy from the locker room, and Malte Delow showed with a three-pointer that Alba had not given up despite the big deficit. Delow and Mattisseck should dominate the first minutes, and thanks to a 19:5 run, Berlin's deficit was suddenly only single-digit.
| Game time | Alba points | Bayern points |
|---|---|---|
| 1st quarter | 20 | 25 |
| 2nd quarter | 27 | 47 |
| 3rd quarter | 46 | 52 |
| 4th quarter | 84 | 81 |
The win
But the back-and-forth was far from over in this game. And as - with the exception of the second quarter - previously always at the start of the quarter in this game, this again belonged to the Berliners. With a strong will and the necessary shooting ability on their side, the Berliners suddenly managed to do everything. Malte Delow scored a three-pointer to make it 67:66 - Alba was now leading for the first time.
