ALBA Berlin plans new 20,000-seat multifunctional arena

Basketball Bundesliga club ALBA Berlin aims to build a new multifunctional arena with capacity for up to 20,000 spectators. The location is planned for the Adlershof district of Berlin, where a new campus will also be developed. The plans were presented in March 2026 as part of the "ZukunftsCampus" project.

What is the current planning status?

ALBA Berlin commissioned a feasibility study conducted by PROPROJEKT Planungsmanagement & Projektberatung GmbH and CSIGHT GmbH. The study aims to determine if the arena and campus construction is viable. Marco Baldi, ALBA Berlin's CEO, and Daniel Endres, Director of Finance & Organizational Development, presented the plans to the Berlin House of Representatives' Sports Committee.

Why is the new arena important for ALBA Berlin?

The new arena will help ALBA Berlin remain competitive long-term. With 20,000 seats, it would be one of Europe's largest basketball arenas. Currently, ALBA Berlin plays in the Uber Arena, which no longer meets the club's needs. The new venue will host not only basketball games but also concerts and other events.

What are the next steps?

ALBA Berlin plans to release more project details in the coming months. Key questions remain, including financing and permitting. The club hopes construction can begin within the next few years. Until then, the Uber Arena remains ALBA Berlin's home court.
